Desbaked is a Café and Bakery established in 2016 by Desree Ngema.
She always felt something eating inside of her about baking and cooking, even whilst working in the corporate space with various brands. She then started collecting recipes online and started practicing. Her cakes were delicious, but they just didn’t look good.
One of her friends said to her “Des, you make delicious cakes, but it’s just a delicious mess!”.
She figured out that if she can teach herself how to bake delicious cakes, imagine if she was trained professionally?
Des then enrolled at Prue Leith’s Chef’s Academy in 2016, attending classes every Saturday until she graduated. During her six month maternity leave, she started baking and her business took off. She resigned from her job and invested all her savings to start her business.
Desbaked started as a business of making wedding cakes. Clients would come to her home for the cake tasting and request slices of cake or cupcakes and this was getting a little too much so she introduced a light menu and this gave birth to the idea of the Café and Bakery.
All their products are freshly baked, from making their own bread for the sandwiches and their own pizzas from scratch. They offer great coffee and delicious macarons, cupcakes and, of course, their famous cakes. They also offer celebration cakes for birthdays, weddings and any special occasions.
